The development of edutainment-based animation characters (education entertainment) has been carried out and applied to economic learning to increase students' interest in learning at SMA Negeri 10 Palembang, especially on payment system material. This development uses the ADDIE development model (analysts, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The sample used was class X.6 students determined by purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this research are questionnaires, observations and student assessments of the media. The data analysis techniques used are quantitative analysis techniques and qualitative analysis. The results showed that the validity of the material was 96.8% with a very feasible category, the media was 98.42% with a very feasible category, the teaching module was 88.89% with a very feasible category, the observation sheet was 93.34% with a very feasible category and the student assessment questionnaire was 98.5%. Therefore, the product developed has an average validity of 95.19%. Student assessment of the product obtained a score of 89.9%, placing the media in the very feasible category. The results of hypothesis testing using the t-paired sample test show that the value of tcount ≥ ttable is 12.103 ≥ 1.689 so that it indicates Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the application of edutainment-based animation characters on student learning interest at SMA Negeri 10 Palembang, especially on payment system material. Therefore, the product in the form of a learning video using edutainment-based animated characters for learning economics is feasible to be applied in learning and effective to increase students' interest in learning.
