This study was conducted to determine the role, challenges faced, and positive and negative impacts of the presence of facilitators in the Independent Peat Care Village Program (DMPG). The objectives of this study were: (1) to describe the role of community facilitators in directing and assisting the Independent Peat Care Village community in peatland management, (2) to identify the challenges faced by facilitators in educating the community about the importance of the DMPG program, and (3) to analyze the impact of the presence of facilitators on the implementation of the program. The research method used was a survey method with an in-depth interview approach to facilitators, farmers receiving benefits from the program, and farmers who were not members of the group. Respondents came from Tirto Raharja Village, Banyuasin Regency, with a data collection instrument in the form of a questionnaire. The results of the study showed that community facilitators in the DMPG Program have a very important role in supporting the success of the program, with an overall average value of 2.56 in the very influential category. The presence of facilitators has a positive impact on both group members and beneficiary farmers who are not members of the group. However, there are challenges faced by facilitators, such as limited access to areas, low community understanding regarding peat management, and the persistence of land management practices that are less environmentally friendly.
