Extreme poverty in South Sumatra Province remains a serious issue, although the trend shows a decline. Several regions in South Sumatra have not yet achieved the national target of 0%, highlighting the need for more effective strategies to accelerate its eradication. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of BAPPEDA leadership in cross-sectoral coordination and the implementation of extreme poverty eradication policies. The research was conducted at BAPPEDA of South Sumatra Province using a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The analysis is based on Kusnadi’s Leadership Role Theory (2002), which includes three main dimension interpersonal role, informational role, and decisional role. The findings indicate that while BAPPEDA leadership has fulfilled its role, challenges remain in ensuring consistency, commitment to follow-up coordination, and the clarity of directives. In the interpersonal role dimension, leadership has demonstrated the ability to establish cross-sectoral communication and motivate the team, however improvements are needed to ensure program implementation consistency. In the informational role dimension, information has been conveyed quickly and strategically, although its dissemination has not been fully optimized. In the decisional role dimension, recent innovations have been introduced, and negotiations have been conducted effectively to support the acceleration of extreme poverty eradication. The study concludes that although the leadership role in accelerating extreme poverty eradication has been fairly effective, further improvements in commitment, policy follow-up consistency, and cross-sectoral coordination are necessary to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of the programs. To enhance effectiveness, stronger commitment, communication forums, workflow transparency, and community involvement in SigertakPlus are required.
