KONSEP DIRI PELAKU VEGETARIAN PADA KOMUNITAS INTERNATIONAL NATURE LOVING ASSOCIATION (INLA) KOTA PALEMBANG
The vegetarian lifestyle is increasingly being adopted by various segments of society. The International Nature Loving Association (INLA) is one of the organizations that supports and facilitates the practice of vegetarianism through various educational and social activities. This study aims to understand the process of self-concept formation among vegetarians within the International Nature Loving Association (INLA) community in Palembang. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing the self-concept theory by Calhoun & Acocella and the looking-glass self theory proposed by Cooley. Data collection methods include interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the self-concept formation of vegetarians is influenced by various factors, including social environment, personal experiences, and exposure to information about the vegetarian lifestyle. Furthermore, the decision to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle is not solely based on spiritual reasons but also on health, moral, and environmental concerns.
