Maspari Island is a small island located in the Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. Data regarding the ecosystem of Maspari Island is still relatively incomplete and inadequate, making this research necessary. This study aims to analyze the structure of the seaweed community found in the waters of Maspari Island, South Sumatra. The research was conducted in July 2024 using the quadrat transect method, which involved drawing a straight line towards the sea for 100 meters and using 1x1 meter plots at seven randomly selected sampling stations around Maspari Island. The results showed that there are eight species of seaweed, consisting of four species of green algae, two species of red algae, and two species of brown algae. The waters of Maspari Island are dominated by red seaweed, with the highest density and relative cover found in Gracilaria salicornia. The highest diversity index (H’) of seaweed was found at station 7, with a value of 0.882. The highest evenness index (E) was also found at station 7, with a value of 0.803. Meanwhile, the highest dominance index (C) was found at stations 1, 3, 4, and 6, with an average value of 1. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) indicated that two principal components explained 69.53% of the total variance, with brightness and salinity being the most significant environmental factors influencing the variation in the distribution of the seaweed community structure.
