The development of globalization is marked by the advancement of digital technology and the internet which bring an influence on the advancement of innovation in various fields, especially intellectual property, copyright relating to works or creations, whether in the form of songs, paintings, books and art, including digital painting illustration art. Apart from providing benefits, the high use of the internet actually has consequences in the form of threats to the existence of copyrighted works and inventions discovered by creators of intellectual property rights, such as manipulation, duplication and piracy of digital paintings, so that the work resulting from manipulation will be very difficult to distinguish from the original work. The legal research method with a normative approach is supported by empirical data, the research locations are in the cities of Palembang and Jakarta, while the population and sample were carried out purposively selectively. Types of data sources through primary data and secondary data. Data collection and processing techniques use literature studies and field studies. Data analysis using descriptive analytical techniques. The results of the research show that protecting the economic rights of digital painting creations is very necessary to ensure the continued development of creative innovation in digital art creations, avoid unhealthy competition and have implications for increasing the economy and welfare of digital painting creators as well as providing a sense of security and legal certainty. The legal action taken by the Digital Painting Creator if his creation is taken and used without permission by another party is in 2 (two) ways, namely through preventive and repressive measures.
