KADMIUM PADA AKAR DAN DAUN TANAMAN TEH (Camellia sinensis L.) PADA AKAR DAN DAUN TANAMAN TEH
The content of heavy metals in soil is naturally very low, but continuous use of fertilizers can trigger an increase in heavy metal levels in the soil because the heavy metal content contained in inorganic root and leaf fertilizers, which may be low, can accumulate and the levels become high, so that it can pollute the soil. which is then absorbed by the roots, if the soil is contaminated with heavy metals, it will have an effect on plants which will inhibit chemical reactions, disruption of photosynthesis reactions can affect plant growth. However, naturally and treatments such as pruning tea plants can also reduce the accumulation of heavy metals in tea plants so that heavy metal levels in intensively fertilized plants can be low. Information regarding the content of the heavy metal Cd or Cadmium in the roots and leaves of plants, one of which is tea, is still limited, so it is interesting to research. The method used is the stratified sampling method, which is based on the age range of the plant to determine the accumulation of heavy metals at various ages. The research results show that the content of the heavy metal Cadmium (Cd) in the roots and leaves of tea plants is low, still far from the threshold for normal levels of heavy metals and is safe for consumption by humans and animals.
