PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN KOMBINASI UMBI SINGKONG DAN INDOGOFERA ZOLLINGERIANA SEBAGAI PENGGANTI JAGUNG DALAM RANSUM TERHADAP KUALITAS FISIK TELUR PUYUH (CORTUNIX CORTUNIX JAPONICA)
Quail is a type of poultry that has been widely cultivated as an egg and meat- producing product. Quail eggs are one of the products that act as a source of animal protein. Quality feed is feed that has the nutritional content needed by quail livestock. Quality feed must also have the energy source protein content needed by quail livestock. A commonly used energy source feed ingredient for quail is corn. However, the utilization of corn as an energy source has a relatively expensive price. This study aims to determine the effect of giving a combination of cassava tubers (Manihot esculenta) and Indigofera zollingeriana leaves (KSI) as an energy source to replace corn in the diet on the physical quality of quail eggs. The completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications has been implied in this study, each of which consisted of 4 quails. The treatments given were treatment rations that had been composed of corn, bran, concentrate, and a combination of cassava tubers and Indigofera zollingeriana (70%: 30%). The treatments in this study were P0 (control ration), P1 (control ration substituted with 10% KSI), P2 (control ration substituted with 20% KSI), P3 (control ration substituted with 30% KSI), and P4 (control ration substituted with 40% KSI). The result showed that Egg weight, egg white index, yolk index, yolk color and haugh unit of egg’s quail given up to 40% KSI were relatively similar to control due to their similar nutritional value. The combination of cassava and Indigofera does not reduce egg weight, egg white index, yolk index, yolk color and haugh unit obtained. It can be concluded that the substitution of KSI up to 40% level in quail feed does not have a significant effect on egg weight, egg white index, yolk index, yolk color and haugh unit in quails. The provision of KSI in feed up to 40% level does not indicate a decrease in the quality of quail eggs.
