MULTIMODALITY IN VOCABULARY LEARNING OF SEVENTH, EIGHTH, AND NINTH GRADES AT GLOBAL TALENT ISLAMIC SCHOOL & STUDIO
This research focuses on the implementation and perception of multimodality in vocabulary learning at Global Talent Islamic School & Studio. To support this research, the researcher collected the data through a questionnaire and observation with qualitative methods. Three classes had been observed for 3 weeks, and 15 participants filled the questionnaire which consisted of 1 teacher and 14 students. The questionnaire data collection was analyzed using the percentage analysis method, and the observation was done using a multimodality checklist. The researcher has done this research to answer some research questions. First, How multimodality is used in vocabulary learning at Global Talent Islamic School & Studio, and second, students’ and teachers’ views on multimodality in vocabulary learning. The results suggest that the teacher in the school was implementing multimodality in vocabulary learning. Then, It also points out that the teacher and the students were showing positive responses toward the presence of multimodality in vocabulary learning. The teacher felt that multimodality helps the teacher to deliver the vocabulary lesson. Not only that, the teacher believed that using multimodal is one of the important keys in delivering vocabulary lessons. Furthermore, from the students' answers, we received a wonderful response about the presence of multimodality in vocabulary learning. The students felt that the presence of multimodality helped them in learning English, especially in vocabulary learning. The students thought that multimodality raised their motivation to learn vocabulary more through pictures and animation.
