PENAMBAHAN TEPUNG RIMPANG JAHE (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) PADA PAKAN UNTUK MENINGKATKAN EFISIENSI PAKAN DAN PERTUMBUHAN IKAN TAMBAKAN (Helostoma temminckii)
The use of ginger rhizome meal as a supplement in feed has been proven to increase feed efficiency and fish growth. However, its use must be according to the dosage. This research aimed to determine the best dose of ginger rhizome meal added to feed to increase feed efficiency and growth of kissing gourami. The fish reared in aquariums at the Basic Fisheries Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Fisheries Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya. Proximate analysis of feed was carried out at the Laboratory of Agricultural Product Processing and Sensory Chemistry, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya. This research was conducted in August-September 2024. This research used a completely randomized design consisting of six treatments and three replications namely, P0 (feed without the addition ginger rhizome meal), P1 (2.5 g ginger rhizome meal kg-1 feed), P2 (5 g ginger rhizome meal kg-1 feed), P3 (7.5 g ginger rhizome meal kg-1 feed), P4 (10 g ginger rhizome meal kg-1 feed), and P5 (12.5 g ginger rhizome meal kg-1 feed). The results showed that the best dose of ginger rhizome meal addition to commercial feed for kissing gourami P4 was 10 g of ginger rhizome meal kg-1 feed which resulted in absolute weight and length growth of 1.30 g and 1.17 cm respectively, survival rate of 98.60%, protein efficiency ratio of 0.73 and feed efficiency of 28.71%. Water quality values in P4 included temperature ranging from 26.8-29.1ºC, pH ranging from 6.6-7.2, dissolved oxygen ranging from 3.5-4.2 mg L-1 and ammonia ranging from 0.015-0.051 mg L-1.
