KULTUR Porphyridium cruentum DALAM MEDIA AIR LIMBAH BUDIDAYA IKAN GABUS (Channa striata) DENGAN NILAI pH BERBEDA
The availability of natural feed is very necessary in fish farming, especially during the larval rearing period. One type of natural feed for fish larvae is P. cruentum from the rhodophyta group of microalgae. P. cruentum production has so far used technical fertilizer in its culture media. Fish farming wastewater is rich in nutrients and can be used as fertilizer for algae cultivation. One of the factors that influences the growth of microalgae besides fertilizer is pH. This research aimed to determine the best pH for density and the specific growth rate of P. cruentum cultured in snakehead fish cultivation wastewater media which is added with 0.75 mL L-1 Guillard fertilizer and 30 g kg-1 salinity. The research was conducted at the Aquaculture Laboratory and Experimental Ponds, Aquaculture Study Program, Fisheries Department, Faculty of Agriculture; and the Fisheries Products Biotechnology Laboratory, Fisheries Products Technology Study Program, Fisheries Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya in February 2024. This research used a completely randomized design consists of three treatments and three replications. The treatments were pH 6±0.5 (P1), pH 7.5±0.5 (P2) and pH 9±0.5 (P3). The results showed that the best pH of snakehead fish farming wastewater added with 0.75 mL L-1 Guillard fertilizer with 30 g kg-1 salinity for P. cruentum culture was 7.5±0.5. The maximum density of P. cruentum produced was 23.95×105 cells mL-1, the specific growth rate was 19.94% day-1, and the reduction in ammonia levels was 71.89%. Key words: pH, P. cruentum, wastewater.
