Geographical conditions dominated by lowlands on the west coast of Sumatra and high rainfall intensity are the main factors triggering floods. This study aims to determine the characteristics of rainfall and frequency of flooding in Bengkulu City during the period 2019–2023, and to analyze the correlation between the two variables using statistical methods and spatial mapping based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The results of the analysis show that the average annual rainfall in Bengkulu City fluctuates, with the highest value of ±4372 mm in 2022 and the lowest of ±2173 mm in 2019. The trend of flooding events shows a significant increase in the last five years, from 16 events in 2019 to 44 events in 2023. The areas that most often experience flooding are Ratu Samban and Singaran Pati Districts. The results of the correlation test between rainfall and flood frequency produced a value of 0.54 which is included in the moderate to fairly strong category, so it can be concluded that rainfall has a significant influence on the frequency of flooding in Bengkulu City, although other factors such as drainage, topographic conditions, and changes in land cover also need to be considered.
