REPRESENTASI ISU POLITIK DINASTI PADA PEMBERITAAN MAJALAH TEMPO (ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS MAJALAH TEMPO EDISI 13-19 MEI 2024)

This study aims to reveal how Tempo magazine represents the issue of political dynasties in its coverage titled “Dinasti Tiada Henti” in the May 13–19, 2024 edition. The research employs a qualitative method using critical discourse analysis, analyzing the cover and three main news articles through three elements: text analysis, social cognition analysis, and social context analysis. Data were collected through observation and documentation. The findings show that Tempo implicitly frames political dynasties as a form of power perpetuation that threatens democratic principles, by highlighting the involvement of the 7th Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo through narrative strategies, word choices such as “cawe-cawe,” and symbolic cover visuals. Tempo does not present a fully neutral stance but demonstrates alignment with democratic values through subtle criticism of dynastic political practices. Therefore, Tempo Magazine not only plays a role as a conveyor of information, but also as a discourse actor that seeks to direct public opinion through an ideological frame that supports democratic values.
