The background of this study is based on the reality of limited access of farmers to productive resources such as land, capital, technology, and information. This condition results in low farmer productivity, unstable income, and suboptimal welfare of the farming community. This study aims to determine the role of the village government in empowering farmers in Ulak Segelung Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through observation, documentation, and interviews with 7 research subjects consisting of village heads, village officials, and farming communities. The results of the study based on indicators of the role of the village government in empowering farmers as regulators, dynamicators, and facilitators show that the role of the village government in empowering farmers in Ulak Segelung Village as a whole has been running quite well, but it has not been fully maximized, because there are still several obstacles or problems faced. This farmer empowerment also has a positive impact on the farming community so that the community feels helped by the programs carried out and the facilities provided, but unfortunately all of them have not been able to fully meet the needs of farmers. The conclusion of this study is that the role of the village government in empowering farmers is quite helpful in increasing farmer productivity and village food security.
