Background: Postpartum discomfort is an uncomfortable sensation related to postpartum conditions caused by various factors, ones of which are post-cesarean pain and breast swelling. Post-cesarean pain and breast swelling can cause various problems in the breastfeeding process. One intervention that can be given to overcome postpartum discomfort is through breast care. Objective: To provide nursing care to postpartum mothers by providing breast care. Method: This study is a qualitative study with a case study approach involving 3 post-cesarean mothers with the same characteristics, namely no prior/existing breast care treatment, breast swelling and pain, and limited breast milk production. The intervention given was breast care with massage techniques, warm compresses, and cold compresses. Results: The results of the evaluation of the main nursing problem in the form of postpartum discomfort experienced by all three patients showed that the problem was resolved, indicated by the mothers saying that their breast milk flow more abundantly and smoothly, their breasts felt softer, their pains were reduced, breastfeeding process is comfortable, and they looked relaxed. Discussion: Breast care carried out with massage techniques, warm compresses, and cold compresses on the breasts can improve the comfort level of postpartum mothers, because it can facilitate the production and release of breast milk and reduce pain in their breasts. Breast massage can trigger the release of prolactin and oxytocin hormones which affect the process of production and smooth release of breast milk. Warm water compresses in breast care can increase vasodilation of blood vessels around the breasts, making breast milk flow more smoothly. Cold water compresses can reduce breast pain, reducing mothers' discomfort. Conclusion: Breast care is effective in improving the comfort level of postpartum mothers with breast swelling problem.
