ANALISIS KANDUNGAN LOGAM BERAT TIMBAL (Pb)PADA AIR BALLAST KAPAL DI PELABUHAN TANJUNG API-API DAN PELABUHAN BOOM BARU PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
The waters of Tanjung Api-Api and Boom Baru serve as areas for residential settlement, transportation, and port activities. These functions pose potential risks of introducing pollutants such as heavy metals into the aquatic environment. Ballast water is a crucial component of ship operations that helps maintain vessel stability during voyages. However, it may also become a source of environmental pollution, especially when it contains heavy metals like lead (Pb), which are harmful to aquatic ecosystems. This study aimed to analyze the concentration of lead (Pb) in ballast water from ships docked at Tanjung Api-Api Port and Boom Baru Port in South Sumatra Province. Samples were collected from several ships engaged in loading and unloading activities at both ports. Lead content analysis was carried out using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method. The results showed that the heavy metal concentrations were 0.0883 mg/L in cargo ships, 0.079 mg/L in tankers, and 0.0791 mg/L in ferries. These values exceed the permissible limits based on Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management, which sets the lead quality standard at 0.008 mg/L. Keywords: ballast water, heavy metals, lead (Pb), pollution, port, atomic absorption spectrophotometry.
