HUBUNGAN PANJANG-BERAT DAN FAKTOR KONDISI LIMA SPESIES IKAN ASAL SUNGAI BENUANG, KABUPATEN PENUKAL ABAB LEMATANG ILIR, SUMATERA SELATAN
Information on the length-weight relationship, growth patterns, and condition factors of fish from the Benuang River is essential to improve better fisheries management. This study aims to determine the length-weight relationship, growth patterns and condition factors of five fish species including Anabas testudineus, Mystus nigriceps, Osteochilus vittatus, Rasbora cephalotaenia and Trichopodus trichopterus. This study used a length-weight relationship analysis to determine growth patterns and relative condition and weight factors as indicators of fish health and environmental quality. The results showed that the exponent value (b) varied between species, with a positive allometric growth pattern, because weight gain was faster than length gain. The average condition factor value in the five fish species ranged from 1.002 to 1.026, indicating that the fish were in healthy condition although not too plump. This was influenced by the abundance of food availability, variations in length and body weight of fish that affected the weight-to-length ratio, and seasonal factors. In addition, the relative weight value is in the range of 100.217 to 102.629, which indicates that the condition of the Benuang River waters is in good condition and has a quality that supports fish health.
