Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) was one of the main caused of death in toddlers in Indonesia with a contribution of 12.5%. In Palembang City, the monthly average of aRI cases in toddlers reached 3,150 cases in 2023, an increased compared to the previous year. This studied aimed to analyze the relationship between ambient air quality (NO₂, SO₂, CO, O₃, and PM₂.₅) and ARI incidents in toddlers in Palembang City in 2019-2023. The method used in this studied used an analytical epidemiology approached with an ecological studied design. The unit of analysis was aggregate data from air quality measurements and monthly ARI data from January to December2019-2023, obtained through secondary data from DINKES and DLHK of Palembang City. The data analyzed used correlation tested with Pearson correlation tested and Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient test. The results suggested that NO₂ concentration had a significant correlation with the incidence of ARI in toddlers (p = 0.031) (ρ (RHO) = 0.284), while SO₂ concentration (p = 0.139) (R = 0.198), CO (p = 0.229) (ρ (RHO) = -0.159), O₃ (p = 0.337) (ρ (RHO) = -0.143), and PM₂.₅ (p = 0.396) (ρ (RHO) = -0.114) did not showed a significant correlation with the incidence of ARI. Suggestions for this studied was to improved the consistency of monitoring and recorded monthly data on ARI incidents in toddlers in each health center in Palembang City, improved the consistency of air quality monitoring activities, and conduct routine vehicle emission tests.
