REPRESENTASI KECEMASAN PADA LIRIK LAGU "WHAT WAS I MADE FOR" KARYA BILLIE EILISH
The study titled “Representation of Anxiety in the Lyrics of 'What Was I Made For' by Billie Eilish” aims to analyze the representation of anxiety contained in the song's lyrics. This research uses a qualitative method through a semiotic theoretical approach. The semiotic theory used in this study is Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotics, which is applied to uncover the meaning of the signifier and the signified, and then relate it to the concept of anxiety and intrapersonal communication with a self-healing motive. Data collection was carried out by translating the lyrics of “What Was I Made For” into Indonesian, and then interpreting the lyrics as the object of study. The results of this research show several representations of anxiety in the lyrics, such as expressions of confusion, emotional collapse, questions about identity and purpose, and uncertainty about the future. The analysis of the lyrics reveals an emotional and communicative journey in managing anxiety in the song, by focusing on intrapersonal communication aimed at self-healing, through self-awareness, surrender, acceptance, and readiness to change and welcome a better future.
