IDENTIFIKASI KARAKTER PERTUMBUHAN PRODUKSI DAN REHABILITASI KEBUN PLASMA NUTFAH TANAMAN TEBU (Saccharum officinarum L.) JURUSAN BUDIDAYA PERTANIAN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) is a plant belonging to the Graminae type or grasses which is cultivated as a raw material for making sugar. Sugar is an important need for society, especially in Indonesia. Apart from being used as raw sugar, sugar cane juice can be enjoyed as a fresh drink which is often found in various busy places. This research aims to determine the growth and production characteristics of sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum L.) in the germplasm collection garden of the cultivation department. Data analysis in this research uses a descriptive analysis method that explains pictures and graphs of the observation data that has been obtained. The tallest plant is the T-Agung-B ecotype and the one with the largest number of leaves is T-Agung-B and Plaju, meanwhile, the longest leaves are the T-Baru-Petai and T-Agung-B ecotypes. The plant with the largest stem diameter is the Tanjung-Agung-B ecotype and the plant with the largest number of segments is the Plaju ecotype. The color of sugarcane stalks varies, namely yellow, bright yellow, orange yellow, greenish yellow, yellowish green, blackish purple, reddish brown and blackish brown. Likewise with the color of the leaves, namely dark green, light green and greenish brown. The plant with the largest per stem weight is the Sungai Dua ecotype and the largest brix content is Tugu Kecil B.
