RESPON PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL SELADA ROMAINE (Lactuca sativa L.) TERHADAP RAGAM INTENSITAS NAUNGAN DAN PUPUK KANDANG SAPI
Romaine lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is a leaf vegetable that has not been widely cultivated in limited spaces due to lack of understanding of the utilization of narrow land and excess sunlight and poor soil physical properties. Therefore, to support the growth of romaine lettuce is by using a variety of shade intensity and cow manure. This study aims to determine the growth and yield response of romaine lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) to a variety of shade intensity and cow manure. This study was organized using a (Split Plot Design). The observation results were analyzed using ANOVA test. The main plot factor was a variety of shade intensity consisting of N0 = Control, N1 = 50% shade, N2 = 75% shade and N3 = 90% shade. The subplot factor is the comparison of cow manure consisting of P1 = 1:1 (soil: burnt husk), P2 = 2:1:1 (soil: burnt husk: cow manure), P3 = 2:1:2 (soil: burnt husk: cow manure). Each treatment was repeated 3 times and each replicate consisted of 2 plants. Parameters observed were daily leaf length, daily leaf width, length-width ratio, plant height, leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves, stalk length, leaf canopy area, leaf greenness, leaf fresh weight, leaf dry weight, stalk fresh weight, stalk dry weight, stem fresh weight, stem dry weight, root length, root fresh weight, and stalk dry weight. The results showed that the use of a variety of three shade densities gave a less favorable response to the growth of romaine lettuce where a good response to the growth of romaine lettuce is found in the treatment without shade (N0) almost on all parameters except plant height, leaf length and stalk length. The application of cow manure with a ratio of 2:1:2 (soil: burnt husk: cow manure) contained in the P3 treatment gave a significant effect on almost all parameters except the level of greenness of the leaves and root length. According to the results of the study suggest that the use of shade density levels should be with a lower density level. Romaine lettuce can be cultivated on open land or without shade.
