RESPON CACING TANAH AFRICAN NIGHT CRAWLER (EUDRILUS EUGENIAE, KINBERG 1867) PADA PERLAKUAN ABU BUAH JARAK (RICINUS COMMUNIS L.)
Behavior is defined as an action or action that can change the pattern of relationships or interactions between an organism and its environment. Earthworms are very sensitive to environmental changes, especially the chemical content of the soil that can affect their metabolism, activity, and survival. Changes in earthworm behavior, such as decreased feeding activity, avoidance of contaminated areas, or even death, can be important indicators that show the toxic effects of a material. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of castor fruit ash (Ricinus communis L.) on the behavior, morphology, and mortality of ANC earthworms. This research was conducted at the Biosystematics Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, October to December 2024. Using a completely randomized design with castor fruit ash concentration treatments of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 0% control. The parameters observed were behavior, morphology, and mortality. Data analysis used ANOVA and Duncan's advanced test. The results showed that castor fruit ash affected behavior, morphology, and mortality, with a success rate reaching 100% at 1 hour of treatment, and 100% at 24 hours of treatment.
