HUBUNGAN PAPARAN SCREEN TIME PADA SAAT MAKAN DENGAN POLA MAKAN DAN STATUS GIZI ANAK PRASEKOLAH (3-6 TAHUN) DI TK KELURAHAN INDRALAYA MULYA
Preschool age is known as the wonder years, a phase where children have a high level of curiosity. During this stage, parental supervision is crucial, especially regarding children's activities such as screen time exposure through gadgets. Children who were frequently exposed to screen time during meals tended to experience disrupted eating patterns, which could affect their nutritional status. This study aimed to determine the relationship between screen time exposure during meals and the eating patterns and nutritional status of preschool children (ages 3–6) at TK Islam Al-Ittifaqiah and TK Pertiwi Indralaya. This research employed a cross-sectional design with 57 child respondents. Data on screen time exposure were collected using a smartphone usage duration questionnaire. Eating patterns were assessed using a 1x24 hour food recall method Nutritional status (3-4 years) was measured based on Weight/Height. Nutritional status (5-6 years) was measured based on Body Mass Index (BMI) for age. The univariate results showed a high rate of screen time exposure during meals in 35 children (61.3%), poor eating patterns in 35 children (63.1%), and a majority with normal nutritional status in 41 children (71.9%). Most respondents were 4 years old (35%) and male (56.1%). The Chi-Square test showed a significant relationship between screen time exposure during meals and eating patterns (p=0.047), while the Spearman Rank test showed a negative correlation between screen time and nutritional status (R=-0.278). It was recommended that future researchers implement stricter control during data collection and explore additional variables related to screen time. Moreover, parents were advised not to allow screen time during meals to help children focus on their food.
