The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicides controlling weeds in sugarcane plantations and to determine the effect of preemergence and postemergence herbicides applications on the growth of sugarcane. This research was conducted from November 2022 to March 2023 at PTPN VII Rayon II Cinta Manis, Burai Village, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatera Province, on plot 85 garden belonging to PTPN VII Rayon II. This research method used the Randomized Block Design (RBD) which consisted of 7 treatments. Each treatment was repeated 3 times so there were 21 experimental units. The treatment in this research were P1 (control), P2 (manual weeding), P3 (parakuat 2 L ha-1), P4 (2.4 D 1.5 L ha-1), P5 (ametrin 2 L ha-1), P6 (diuron 2,5 kg ha-1), P7 (methyl metsulfuron 2 kg ha-1). The Weed parameters observed were absolute density, relative density of a species, absolute frequency, relative frequency of a species, absolute dominance, relative dominance of a species, and Summed Dominance Ratio (SDR). Parameters of sugarcane that were observed were plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, and stem diameter.
