Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is one of the annual crops that has a high economic value as foreign exchange. The disturbance often occurs in oil palm plants is caused by horn beetles (Oryctes rhinoceros). O. rhinoceros is a plant pest organism damaging plants to cause economic losses. The purpose of this research was to study the most effective dose of B. thuringiensis bio-insecticide using solid media against O. rhinoceros larvae in the field. The research was conducted in the Oil Palm Research Plantation of Sriwijaya University under direct habitat conditions. This study used a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) consisting of six treatments and four replications. As a comparison, water and insecticide treatment were used as controls. Examination were carried out in the field with O. rhinoceros larvae in each plot given a treatment, namely P1: dose (10 g Bio-insecticide Bran + Oil Palm Cake), P2: dose (20 g Bio-insecticide Bran + Oil Palm Cake), P3: dose (30 g Bio-insecticide Bran + Oil Palm Cake), P4: dose (40 g Bio-insecticide Bran + Oil Palm Cake), P5: Insecticide control, and P6: Water control. Larvae mortality in each of treatment given showed significantly different results both at 1-30 day after application (hsa) observation. The highest mortality occurred in treatment P4 with a dose of 40 g Bio-insecticide Bran + Oil Palm Cake. Which amounted to 100% on day 21 day after application (hsa). Infected O. rhinoceros larvae cause symptoms of changes in body colour to brown to blackish, appetite disappears which causes the larval body to shrink, emit fluids and smell due to the rupture of the O. rhinoceros digestive system due to infection with B. thuringiensis bacteria. Environmental factors such as soil temperature, air temperature and humidity also affect the high mortality of O. rhinoceros larvae in the field.
