UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK TUNGGAL DAN KOMBINASI DARI BAGIAN-BAGIAN TUMBUHAN PEPAYA (Carica papaya L.) MENGGUNAKAN METODE DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil)
Free radicals can cause cell damage that leads to various degenerative diseases. Papaya (Carica papaya L.) contains a variety of antioxidant compounds including vitamins C, A, and E, carotenoids, flavonoids, phenolics, alkaloids and papain that can protect cells from free radical damage. In the emiprit, the roots and leaves are used as a diuretic, the seeds and leaves as anthelmintics, and the fruit to cure biliary diseases as well as dyspepsia and other digestive disorders. This study aims to analyze the antioxidant activity of six parts of the papaya plant, namely leaves, flowers, stems, fruits, seeds, and roots and the combined effects resulting from these parts. The antioxidant activity test was carried out in vitro using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) showing that the root extract had the best IC50 value of 191 μg/mL, with a total phenolic content of 394.01 mg QE/g and a total flavonoid of 63.62 mg GAE/g. The combination of leaves and roots showed the highest antioxidant activity with an inhibition percentage of 83.43%, resulting in a synergistic effect. The results showed that the combination of different parts of the papaya plant produced a more significant antioxidant effect than a single extract.
