GREEN SYNTHESIS MnFe2O4/ZnO MENGGUNAKAN EKSTRAK DAUN KERSEN (MUNTINGIA CALABURA L) UNTUK DEGRADASI ZAT WARNA CONGO RED
This research uses kersen leaf extract in the green synthesis of MnFe2O4/ZnO used for congo red dye degradation. MnFe2O4 acts as a magnetic material and ZnO as a catalyst. The green synthesis of MnFe2O4/ZnO was characterized using VSM, XRD, SEM-EDX and UV-VIS DRS. Characterization results using VSM showed a saturation magnetization value of 51.61 emu/g. Characterization results using XRD showed the highest intensity at an angle of 2θ = 36.26° with a particle size of 38.00 nm. The results of characterization using SEM-EDX show that the aggregate morphology with unequal size has constituent elements consisting of O (64.13%), Mn (1.20%), Fe (3.00%) and Zn (31.67%). Characterization results using UV-Vis DRS show the band gap value of MnFe2O4/ZnO is 1.41 eV. The pHpzc value produced by MnFe2O4/ZnO is at pH 7.92. The optimum condition for reducing the concentration of congo red dye by the MnFe2O4/ZnO was at pH 6 with a dye concentration of 10 ppm and a duration of irradiation using visible light for 150 minutes resulting in a degradation effectiveness of 88.54%.
