SENYAWA ANTIOKSIDAN DARI DAUN JAMBU STRAWBERRY (PSIDIUM CATTELEIANUM SABINE)
Indonesia dikenal sebagai negara dengan keanekaragaman hayati yang melimpah. Keanekaragaman hayati tersebut salah satunya spesies tumbuhan yang menghasilkan berbagai senyawa bioaktif, termasuk antioksidan, yang dapat menetralkan radikal bebas dan menjaga kesehatan. Semakin banyak keanekaragaman hayati, semakin banyak pilihan sumber alami yang dapat melawan kerusakan oksidatif. Penemuan jambu strawberry Strawberry (Psidium catteleianum Sabine) di hutan Universitas Sriwijaya telah dilakukan dan dijadikan objek penelitian untuk mengetahui kandungan senyawa aktif dari tanaman ini dan diharapkan mampu melawam radikal bebas tersebut. Penelitian uji aktivitas antioksidan daun jambu strawberry (psidium catteleianum Sabine) menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikilhidrazyl) ini akan dilakukan dari bulan Oktober sampai dengan Desember 2024. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Genetika dan Bioteknologi, Jurusan Biologi Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Sriwijaya, Kecamatan Indralaya Utara, Kab. Ogan Ilir, Sumatera Selatan. Dilakukan beberapa uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan kromatografi lapis tipis dan dilakukan penentuan golongan senyawa. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukan bahwa daun Jambu Strawberry (Psidium catteleianum Sabine) mengandung senyawa antioksidan dan bisa dimanfaatkan untuk menangkal radikal bebas yang mau masuk kedalam tubuh. Indonesia is known as a country with abundant biodiversity. This biodiversity includes plant species that produce various bioactive compounds, including antioxidants, which can neutralize free radicals and maintain health. The more biodiversity there is, the greater the choice of natural sources that can fight oxidative damage. The discovery of Strawberry guava (Psidium catteleianum Sabine) in the Sriwijaya University forest has been carried out and used as a research object to determine the active compound content of this plant and it is hoped that it will be able to fight these free radicals. Research testing the antioxidant activity of strawberry guava leaves (psidium catteleianum Sabine) using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picylhidrazyl) method will be carried out from October to December 2024. This research was conducted at the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory, Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, North Indralaya District, Kab. Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. Several antioxidant activity tests were carried out using thin layer chromatography and the compound class was determined. The results of research conducted show that Strawberry Guava leaves (Psidium catteleianum Sabine) contain antioxidant compounds and can be used to ward off free radicals that want to enter the body.
