PENGARUH SEMPOA BALOK ANGKA TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERHITUNG PERMULAAN ANAK USIA 5-6 TAHUN DI TK ISLAM AZ-ZAHRAH PALEMBANG
Early numeracy skills play a crucial role in helping children understand fundamental mathematical concepts essential for daily life. An effective method to stimulate these skills is using the number block abacus. This study aims to examine the effect of using a number block abacus on early numeracy skills in children aged 5-6 years at TK Islam Az-Zahrah Palembang. The study employs a quantitative experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consists of 14 children selected through structured tests and observations. The results show that the pretest score averaged 15.28, while the posttest score increased to 21.21, with a difference of 5.9. The paired sample t-test results indicate a significant difference (p < 0.05) between the pretest and posttest. Thus, the number block abacus positively affects children's early numeracy skills. The implications of this research indicate that the abacus with number blocks can influence basic counting skills, such as recognizing random numbers, understanding odd and even numbers, matching quantities with numbers, and performing simple addition and subtraction operations.
