DAMPAK PENGGANTIAN SEBAGIAN PASIR DENGAN LIMBAH PLASTIK PET DENGAN PERLAKUAN AWAL TERHADAP KUAT TEKAN DAN KUAT TARIK BELAH BETON
Plastic waste, particularly PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate), poses a significant environmental problem due to its resistance to natural decomposition. PET is widely used in single-use beverage bottle packaging because of its lightweight nature, moisture resistance, visual appeal, and good chemical durability. These advantages make PET a potential additive material in concrete construction. This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of adding pretreated PET plastic waste on the compressive and split tensile strength of concrete. PET waste was used in variations of 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%, with cylindrical specimens measuring 10 × 20 cm tested at 7 and 28 days. The results show that the addition of PET waste at certain percentages can improve both compressive and split tensile strength of concrete. This improvement is attributed to PET particles acting as a filler material, which helps increase the density of the concrete mix.
