Planning and design of traditional waterfront markets in gandus is based on the condition of the existing market which no longer reflects the ideal of traditional market in terms ofboth space and facilities capacity. Based on rdtrk of palembang city, the government has a plan to develop the field of trade, one of them by building a traditional market. Being in the area near the settlements and on the banks of the musi river, making the existence of this market becomes the driving pulp of the area and landmark lettu karim kadir road area. Problems related t o c ir cula t ion, zoning, orientation, accessibility and lighting and rendering of the traditional waterfront market will require an approach of optimizing space with the development of interactive desan visibility. In addition to problems in the market itself there is a problem about the hallmark of the city of Palembang as a city of water,for it is made a dock to be made as a waterfront landmark of the city of Palembang. Therefore, it is necessary to pay close attention to the traditional design criteria of traditional markets in this gandus in the aspect of urban architecture, functional standards, and character creation through a building technology approach with modern design lines that consider the relationship t o the environment in order t o give each other a positive impact"
