This research discusses the management of the criminal acts of illegal harvesting of Kayu Panjang Umur plants without a permit in the Mount Dempo Protected Forest Area by UPTD KPH Region X Dempo. Kayu Panjang Umur is a protected wild plant species because it lives in the protected forest area of Mount Dempo based on Article 50 paragraph 2(g) of Law Number 6 of 2023 on Job Creation. The problems in this research are: (1) the implementation of legal regulations in managing the illegal collection of Kayu Panjang Umur within the protected area, (2) the factors influencing the handling of such offenses, and (3) future strategies by UPTD KPH Region X Dempo to prevent unauthorized collection of Kayu Panjang Umur in the Mount Dempo Protected Forest. The research method used in this research was a normative research method supported by empirical data. The research approaches used were statutory, case, and futuristic approaches. The conclusions obtained from this research are: (1) the implementation of legal regulations in managing the illegal collection of Kayu Panjang Umur within the protected area of Mount Dempo by UPTD KPH Region X Dempo include penal efforts through administrative channels and non-penal efforts through the establishment of Forestry Security Unit, forming policies as rules for entering the Mount Dempo protected forest area, carrying out education and socialization, as well as carrying out supervision and patrols; (2) Several factors influence these management efforts: supportive factors like regulatory, community, and human resource factors, and inhibiting factors such as limitations in legislation, facilities, community engagement, and socio-cultural barriers.; and (3) Efforts to overcome this criminal act in the future could be through the establishment of a basis of legal protection regarding the provision of administrative sanctions used as the main criminal punishment, while criminal sanction are used as ultimum remedium and including Kayu Panjang Umur in the attachment to the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry concerning Protected Plant and Animal Species..
