Dragonflies, also known as Odonata, are the first flying insects in the world. Dragonflies have been around since the carbonaceous era (360-290 million years ago) and still survive today. There are about 700 species of dragonflies in Indonesia, which is about 15% of the 5000 species in the world. Bukit Gatan is one part of the Bukit Cogong Protected Forest located in Sukorejo Village, Suku Tengah Lakitan (STL) Ulu Terawas District, Musi Rawas Regency with an area of ± 567 ha. There is a waterfall in the protected forest area with abundant biodiversity. The waterfall in Bukit Gatan is part of the Megang watershed. This study aims to determine the types of dragonflies (Order: Odonata) in the Bukit Gatan Waterfall Area. This research was conducted in February 2023 until completion, located at Bukit Gatan, Sukorejo Village, STL ULU Terawas District, Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra. Sample identification was carried out at the Biology Department Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. The research method is survey and observation by making direct observations to the research location. Determination of sample points using purposive sampling technique is done at 3 (three) stations based on the state of the research location that allows for sampling Odonata. Sampling in the field using the cruising method (visual day flying). Odonata sampling was focused in the waterfall area based on the active time of dragonflies in the morning (08.00-10.00 am) and afternoon (15.00-17.00 pm). The results showed that the presence of dragonflies in Bukit Gatan Waterfall Area identified 1 suborder, 1 family, 2 species, and 108 individuals. The identified suborder is Anisoptera with one family Libellulidae consisting of Orthetrum sabina and Neurothemis terminata species. The species that had the highest presence was Orthetrum sabina with 105 individuals found at all three stations while the least species was Neurothemis terminata with 3 individuals found only at station two. Keywords: Bukit Gatan Waterfall, Dragonflies (Odonata), Neurothemis terminata, Orthetrum sabina
