EKSPLORASI ARTHROPODA PADA TANAMAN CABAI RAWIT (Capsicum frutescens) DIBAWAH NAUNGAN TANAMAN AREN (Arenga pinnata) SECARA SISTEM POLIKUTUR DI DESA ULAK SEGELUNG, KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR, SUMATERA SELATAN
Indonesia widely cultivates cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens) due to its high demand and ease of cultivation. The usefulness of sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) as a plantation crop lies in its ability to maintain ecological balance, making it ideal for planting alongside other plants or in a polyculture system. Polyculture results in a higher presence of arthropods due to the diverse types of plants grown on a single plot of land. Few studies have provided information on arthropods in Aren palm and raw chili plants grown in polyculture. Therefore, this study aims to identify the arthropods present in cayenne pepper plants and aren palm plants grown in polyculture, and to examine their differences from previous studies conducted in the same location. This research was conducted from June to October 2024, located in Aren Plantation, Ulak Segelung Village, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. There were 35 plots of cayenne pepper plants arranged in rows, and the method used was purposive random sampling. Arthropods were obtained using 3 traps, including a sweep net, yellow sticky trap, and light trap.In this study, 274 arthropod individuals were found, belonging to 9 orders, 28 families, and 47 species. This plantation boasts a Diversity Index (H') value of 3.22, placing it in the high category. The obtained Evenness Index (E) value of 0.84 indicates a relatively high evenness of arthropods in the palm plantation. The Dominance Index (D) value of only 0.06 indicates the absence of any dominating species in this plantation. Every week of observation revealed the Odonata order and Lepidoptera order as the most frequently occurring order, peaking at 54% or 15 individuals in week 4. Arthropods that function as predators dominated this study, accounting for 47% or 129 individuals.
