Fossil fuels, such as oil, gas and coal are known to be the most widely used energy sources and are finite in quantity. A number of researchers have been looking for ways to produce renewable energy sources that do not rely on natural reserves such as fossil fuels. The use of fossil fuels produces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, which are the main cause of global warming and environmental damage. Therefore, it is necessary to implement environmentally friendly alternative energy such as replacing the use of fossil fuels with hydrogen as an energy source. Hydrogen production is generally through the process of water electrolysis. This research uses Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis (PEMWE) method with variation of Ni-Fe/C catalyst composition. The characterizations used are cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). The CV characterization results show that the Ni:Fe 3:1 composition mixture has the best result of 1.57 m2/g. However, the EIS characterization results show that the Ni:Fe 3:1 composition mixture has the best conductivity value of 0.112 S/cm. Based on the measurement results, the best production rate is found in the Ni:Fe 3:1 composition of 3.13 mL/s at an optimum current of 2.5 A.
