MEKANISME DAN EFEKTIVITAS BIOKONTROL Paenibacillus polymyxa TERHADAP PENYAKIT PADA TANAMAN PADI (Oryza sativa L.) YANG DISEBABKAN OLEH Pyricularia oryzae
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a staple food crop that plays a crucial role in ensuring national food security. The research aims to study the ability of Paenibacillus polymyxa to inhibit the growth of the pathogen P. oryzae that causes blast disease in rice and test the potential of P. polymyxa bacteria as a biocontrol to control blast disease. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) using 4 treatments and 1 control consisting of: 5 ml (A), 10 ml (B), and 15 ml (C) concentration treatments, fungicide active methyl thiophane (D) and control (E) with 6 replicates. On the final days, inhibition tended to increase for most treatments. Treatments P1, P2, and P3 generally showed higher inhibition compared to P0 and P4. Based on the results of the effectiveness of P. polymyxa in general, it is effective in inhibiting the growth of P. oryzae. Inhibition tends to increase along with the incubation time, especially after day 5. From the calculation of the weight of P. oryzae mycelium in the inhibition test, it can be concluded that P. polymyxa bacteria at concentrations of 5 ml/L (P) and 10 ml/L (P3) have good potential as a biological control agent for the fungus P. oryzae compared to treatment P4 (fungicide). However, when compared between treatments there is no significant difference between P1, P2 and P3 in the inhibition of P. oryzae. When viewed based on the percentage of inhibition P2 treatment has the largest percentage with 54.07% inhibition.
