UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI LOTION DARI HASIL FERMENTASI LIMBAH KULIT NANAS (ANANAS COMOSUS L) DAN KULIT JERUK (CITRUS SINENSIS) TERHADAP BAKTERI STAPHYLOCOCCUS EPIDERMIDIS
Lotion was a practical and easy-to-use alternative for preventing infections from various skin diseases. One of the alternative ingredients with potential antibacterial properties to address Staphylococcus epidermidis bacterial infections was orange peel and pineapple peel. This study aimed to create a lotion with different variations of fermentation product concentrations (1%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) as an antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus epidermidis. The lotion evaluation tests included organoleptic testing, pH, viscosity, spreading power, adhesion, irritation, and stability (cycling test). Data analysis using SPSS revealed that the best lotion formula was formula 3 with a 10% fermentation product concentration, which had a slightly thick, slightly watery texture, a yellowish color, a characteristic citrus scent, was homogeneous, had a pH of 5.10, viscosity of 6,220 cP, spreading power of 6.30 cm, adhesion time of 6.44 s, no irritation, and stability during storage. Antibacterial activity using the well diffusion method resulted in an inhibition zone diameter of 11.16 ± 3.61mm. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the fermentation product lotion was 50% ppm, and the control comparison for the fermentation product was at a concentration of 40%. Formula 3 lotion exhibited the best characterization and strong antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis.
