UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI LOTION DARI HASIL FERMENTASI LIMBAH KULIT NANAS (ANANAS COMOSUS L) DAN KULIT PEPAYA (CARICA PAPAYA L) TERHADAP STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS.
One potential product as a natural antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus aureus is a fermentation product of pineapple peel and papaya peel containing organic acids. This study aims to develop a lotion with various concentrations of the fermentation product of pineapple and papaya peels (1%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) as an antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus aureus. The lotion evaluation tests included organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, adhesion, irritation, and stability (cycling test). Data analysis using SPSS determined that the best lotion formula was formula 3, with a 10% concentration of the fermentation product of pineapple and papaya peels, characterized by a thick consistency, yellowish-white color, distinctive pineapple-like scent, homogeneity, a pH of 5.11, viscosity of 5,527 cp, spreadability of 6.16 cm, adhesion of 8.43 seconds, non-irritating properties, and stability during storage. Antibacterial activity tested using the well-diffusion method showed an inhibition zone diameter of 17.16 mm. The MIC value of the lotion with the fermentation product of pineapple and papaya peels demonstrated an inhibition percentage of 90.1% at a 50% concentration, while the comparative control of the fermentation product showed 90.8% inhibition at a 40% concentration against Staphylococcus aureus. These findings indicate that both the lotion with the fermentation product and the control product exhibit strong antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus.
