ANALISIS KETIDAKPASTIAN PENGUKURAN PADA UJI ULTIMATE BATUBARA MENGGUNAKAN METODE ASTM D5373-21
Coal plays a vital role in the energy and industrial sectors, so its quality must be maintained to fulfill specified guidelines. This study aims to evaluate the quality of coal produced by PT Bukit Asam, Tbk through ultimate analysis using the ASTM D5373-21 Method, and to identify factors affecting measurement uncertainty. The analysis was conducted at the Coal Transportation Handling Laboratory (PAB) on 10 samples using a CHN Analyzer to measure the content of carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen. The results showed that carbon content ranged from 48.65% to 63.17%, hydrogen from 5.18% to 6.34%, and nitrogen from 0.92% to 1.19%. Based on these percentages, the coal samples were classified as sub-bituminous. Three main factors influencing measurement uncertainty were instrument calibration, measurement precision, and sample homogeneity. The highest uncertainties in carbon (0.2795%) and nitrogen (0.0166%) were primarily caused by precision, while hydrogen uncertainty (0.0609%) was more affected by sample homogeneity. These findings highlight the importance of laboratory quality control, particularly in equipment calibration and sample preparation, to ensure the accuracy and repeatability of coal quality testing.
