RANCANG BANGUN SISTEM MONITORING TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLID (TDS) DALAM AIR BERBASIS ARDUINO UNO R3 DAN KOMUNIKASI DATA VISIBLE LIGHT COMMUNICATION (VLC)
Water quality monitoring systems are crucial for determining the suitability of water, especially for drinking purposes. This research aims to design and develop a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) monitoring system using an Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller and data communication based on Visible Light Communication (VLC). The system consists of two modules (modems) that communicate using red laser (LD) light, received by a solar cell as the receiver. TDS levels are measured using a Gravity TDS sensor and transmitted wirelessly through VLC. For real-time remote monitoring, the measured data is also sent to a monitoring website using a NodeMCU ESP8266 module. PWM modulation is applied to encode binary data via variations in light pulse duration. The test results show that the system can successfully transmit data up to a maximum distance of 100 meters through air with good accuracy. However, in water medium, effective data transmission is limited to a maximum of 3 meters and fails when the water is too turbid. The system is considered efficient and has strong potential as an energy-saving water monitoring solution.
