STRUKTUR KOMUNITAS MAKROZOOBENTOS EPIFAUNA PADA KAWASAN EKOSISTEM PESISIR PULAU MASPARI, SUMATERA SELATAN
The condition of Maspari Island is remote and far from human activities, and is influenced by seasonal changes, causing the need for a more in-depth study related to the structure of the macrozoobenthos community in the waters around the coast of Maspari Island. This study aims to assess the structure of the macrozoobenthos epifauna community on Maspari Island. The components studied include diversity index, uniformity, dominance, species richness, and species density. Sampling of epifauna macrozoobenthos was carried out using the 1m x 1m quadrant transect method at 8 observation stations. Environmental parameters measured were temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen (DO), sediment texture, and total organic matter (BOT). The results showed that there were 37 species of epifaunal macrozoobenthos consisting of 3 classes, namely Gastropoda (30 species), Malacostraca (6 species), and Holothuroidea (1 species). The highest density of macrozoobenthos epifauna is 189 ind/m2. The community structure of epifaunal macrozoobenthos showed good species richness index, moderate diversity index, low to moderate uniformity index, and high dominance index at some stations. Environmental parameters that correlate with macrozoobenthos community structure are temperature, DO, and sand. The limited scientific data on the structure of the epifaunal macrozoobenthos community in this region is the main rationale for the research, to produce comprehensive baseline data and provide a scientific understanding of the dynamics of the Maspari Island Coastal ecosystem. Keywords : Macrozoobenthos Epifauna, Community Structure, Environmental Parameters, Maspari Island
