HUBUNGAN PERILAKU ASERTIF DENGAN REGULASI EMOSI SISWA DI SMA IT BINA ILMI PALEMBANG.
Formal education in Indonesia covers levels from elementary school (SD) to vocational high school (SMK), with senior high school (SMA) as the last level covering grades 10 to 12, where students are in the late adolescent phase. Although adolescents in this phase tend to be more prepared to deal with various problems, their emotional control is still in the process of development. The psychological and physical changes that occur during adolescence often trigger confusion, emotional disturbances, and mental stress that can lead to deviant behavior. Relationships with peers are very important in the lives of adolescents, where they spend a lot of time together to express and explore their potential. This study aims to determine the relationship between assertive behavior and students' emotion regulation. Using a correlational quantitative approach, this study involved 77 students as samples through distributing questionnaires via Google Form with Likert scale instruments. The results showed that assertive behavior was in the “moderate” category with a percentage of 63.6%, while the level of emotional regulation reached 70.13% in the same category. The Pearson product moment correlation value obtained is 0.209, indicating a weak/low relationship between assertive behavior and emotional regulation in accordance with the coefficient interval of 0.20-0.39. This result indicates that the higher the students' assertive behavior, the higher their ability to regulate emotions, and vice versa, the lower the students' assertive behavior, the lower their ability to regulate their emotions.
