STANDARDISASI EKSTRAK ETANOL TUMBUHAN SUNGKAI (Peronema canescens)
Sungkai plant (Peronema canescens) belongs to the Verbenaceae family and is known to have many benefits as a traditional medicine. P. canescens leaves are used to treat various diseases such as fever, malaria, colds, toothache, aches, itching, inflammation, and to increase the immune system. These properties are supported by the presence of secondary metabolite compounds that have been scientifically proven, so their quality and safety need to be tested. This study aims to standardize the quality of ethanol extract of P. canescens leaves by determining specific and non-specific parameters. The research process begins with maceration using 96% ethanol, followed by phytochemical screening tests, thin layer chromatography (TLC), and various specific and non-specific parameter tests. Specific parameters include water-soluble and ethanol extract levels, while non-specific parameters include water content, total ash content, acid-insoluble ash content, and metal and microbial contamination tests. The results showed that the yield of thick P. canescens leaf extract was 6.16%. Phytochemical screening identified alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, and triterpenoids. The results of specific parameters of P. canescens leaf extract in the form of water-soluble extract content of 70.32%, ethanol-soluble extract content of 86.43%, non-specific parameters in the form of water content of 9.88%, total ash content of 6.72%, acid insoluble ash content of 0.59%, Pb metal contamination of 1.06 mg/kg, Cd
