Background: Dental caries in children could cause various complications, such as gingival inflammation, abscess formation, malnutrition, periodontal disease, and loss of permanent teeth. Data from the Palembang City Health Office (2018) showed that 53.96% of children aged 5–9 years experienced dental caries. An effective educational method was required to increase children's awareness of maintaining dental and oral hygiene. A pop-up book served as an interactive learning medium that increased children's interest through attractive three-dimensional visual effects and had the potential to be an effective educational tool to improve children's knowledge of dental and oral hygiene. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the pop-up book "Rahasia Senyum Sehat Si Cacil" in improving knowledge of dental and oral hygiene among fourth-grade students at MI Adabiyah 2 Palembang. Methods: Quantitative research with a questionnaire-experimental design using a one-group pre-test and post-test method. The participants consisted of 50 fourth-grade students at MI Adabiyah 2 Palembang. Knowledge of dental and oral hygiene before and after the intervention with the pop-up book "Rahasia Senyum Sehat Si Cacil" was measured using a questionnaire containing 10 multiple-choice questions. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: A significant difference was found in the knowledge scores before and after the intervention with the pop-up book "Rahasia Senyum Sehat Si Cacil", with a p value < 0,001. Conclusion: The educational pop-up book "Rahasia Senyum Sehat Si Cacil" was effective in increasing knowledge related to maintaining dental and oral hygiene among fourth-grade students at MI Adabiyah 2 Palembang.
