ANALISIS PROFITABILITAS DAN FAKTOR FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI USAHATANI MULTIKOMODITAS DI DESA TELANG SARI KECAMATAN TANJUNG LAGO KABUPATEN BANYUASIN
Profitability is a crucial indicator for measuring the economic success of farmers by reflecting the income earned after deducting all production costs and considering various factors influencing farming activities. This study aims to analyze the profitability levels and identify the key factors affecting multi-commodity farming systems, specifically rice–corn and rice–melon cropping patterns, in Telang Sari Village, Tanjung Lago Sub-district, Banyuasin Regency. Data collection was conducted in December 2024 through structured interviews with 60 farmers using questionnaires. The findings reveal that the profitability of rice–corn farming was higher, at 2.78%, compared to rice–melon farming, which recorded a profitability of 1.92%. The difference of 0.86% was statistically significant, suggesting that rice–corn farming is comparatively more profitable. This may be attributed to factors such as more stable market prices, higher yields, and greater cost efficiency in managing these crops. Furthermore, the study examined six variables—age, farming experience, education level, land size, labor costs, and production volume—and their effects on profitability. The combined effect of these variables significantly influenced profitability. Individually, age, experience, education, and production volume showed significant positive effects, whereas labor costs did not have a statistically significant impact on profitability. These results provide valuable insights for policymakers and agricultural stakeholders aiming to improve farming profitability and sustainability in the region.
