The pulp and paper industry in Indonesia is one of the largest industries, with a continuously increasing demand for paper. The pulping process generates black liquor, which can be processed into green liquor through the addition of salt cake in the recovery boiler. This study aims to analyze the effect of black liquor flow on the total titratable alkali of green liquor, the concentration of residual sodium sulfate in green liquor, and the percentage efficiency of salt cake reduction. The research was conducted at the Marketing and Quality Assurance Department Laboratory of PT Tanjungenim Lestari Pulp and Paper. The analytical methods employed include acid-base titration for total titratable alkali, gravimetry for residual sodium sulfate concentration, and ICP-OES to evaluate sodium and potassium metals. The results indicate that as the flow of black liquor and the total titratable alkali of weak white liquor increase, the total titratable alkali of green liquor also increases. An increase in black liquor flow of 2,170 m³/day, along with an increase in the total titratable alkali of weak white liquor of 62,561.10 Kg/day, resulted in an optimum total titratable alkali of green liquor reaching 263,698.40 Kg/day. Conversely, the highest increase in black liquor flow of 2,179 m³/day resulted in the lowest residual sodium sulfate mass of 1,505.30 Kg/day, with an optimum salt cake reduction efficiency percentage of 97.29%. This study is expected to serve as a reference for improving efficiency in the pulp and paper industry.
