As time goes by, Palembang city has many changes include of the land use. When the rainy season comes, residents of Palembang feel uncomfortable with the flood threat. Moreover whom live at flood-prone area like in Macan Lindungan. One of the solution to reduce the flood is making a retention pond constuction. Therefore, the writer interest to do a study about retention pond plan with spillway and sluice gate in Macan Lindungan Area The purpose of this study is to figure out the run-off hydrograph, the optimal dimension and capacity of retention pond, and the optimal elevation for the spillway and the sluice gate by using HEC-HMS program version 4.1. The study begin by doing field observation to know the existing condition and taking data like dimension of primer channel. The analyisis starts with the rainfall analyis and continue to the HEC-HMS program calculation to simulate the pond capacity. The results in this study, the area of the pond is 2,36 ha; the capacity is 1,6 m at the elvation of 2,7 m; the elevation of spillway is 1,9 m and 4 m width; and the Steel sluice gate 2,5 m height. The maximum elevation of the water level is 2,43 m which is not higher than maximum elevation of pond embankment 2,7 m height.
