In a cement factory, one of the supporting building is the cement silo. Cement silo is an industrial buildingthat used as the storage of bulk cement where every silo are different for each type of cement. Beacuse of cement are very important in this period, PT. Semen Padang going to build more factory to improve theircement production, and the name of the new factory is Indarung VI that build in the north of Indarung V existing. First work construction in build a cement silo is build the foundationbefore we can build the frame and structure of silo. In tis case, foundation that used by PT. Semen Padang is raft foundation. In this research, writer remake the design of cement siloagain by use caisson foundation. The purpose of this research is not only to find the ultimate capacity of raft and caison foundation but also to find which type of foundation that have a better used in cement silo. After collect the datas, next method that used in this research is make the design of cement silo foundation use SAP2000 verse 15 program to get maximum load, then continiue tocalculate the capacity of each foundation, and finally analize the result. Result of this analysis show that caison fondation with depth 4,5 m and diameter 4,5 m have smaller allowable capacity than raft foundation with depth 4 m. Allowable capacity of caison foundation is338.249,818 kN, allowable capacityof raft foundation is 943.639,759kN. Maximum load of caison foundation is264.571,691kN and maximum load of raft foundation is78.072,060 kN. If we only compare the allowable capacity of each the foundation,we found that capacity of raft foundation is bigger than allowable capacity of caisson foundation. But, if we compare the allowable capacity and maximum load of two type the foundation above, more effective if we use caison foundation in cement silo. Because, deviation between allowable capacity and maximum load in caisson foundation are not very significant. But, the deviation between allowable capacity and maximum load in raft foundaion more bigger and that’s why our foundation is going to be a lavishfoundation if we use type of raft foundation in cement silo. So, in this case we can assume that caison foundation are better than raft foundation
