ANALISIS KEBUTUHAN PEGAWAI DALAM MOTIVASI DAN KINERJA PEGAWAI (STUDI KASUS DI BADAN PENGEMBANGAN SUMBER DAYA MANUSIA DAERAH PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN)
This study aims to analyze the role of the work environment in influencing employee motivation and performance at the Regional Human Resource Development Agency (BPSDMD) of South Sumatra Province. The focus of this research is based on Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory, which is used to examine how the fulfillment of physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization needs in the workplace affects employee motivation and performance. This research employs a qualitative method with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving employees and relevant parties at BPSDMD South Sumatra Province. The results indicate that the physical work environment—including facilities, workspace comfort, and safety—has been generally fulfilled, although some challenges remain in optimizing facilities due to budget limitations. In terms of non-physical aspects such as social relations, recognition of achievement, and opportunities for self-development, most of these factors positively influence employee motivation and performance. However, the inclusive organizational culture has not shown a significant impact due to the absence of specific conditions necessitating such efforts. Overall, a supportive work environment plays a crucial role in enhancing employee motivation and improving performance. This study recommends the continuous optimization of both physical and non-physical aspects of the work environment to fulfill employee needs more effectively.
