A notary is a public official who is authorized to make authentic deeds and has other authorities as referred in Law Number. 2 of 1024 concerning the Position of Notaries. In carrying out thier position as a public official, it is not uncommon for a notary with parties who have a relationship with the deed made by the notary due to abuse of authority. A notary can be sued in court for the deed which they have made. This study aims to determine and analyze the existence of the Notary Honorary Council (MKN) compared to the Notary Supervisory Council (MPN) as a notary protection institution in Law Number 2 of 2014 concerning the Position of Notary and to determine and analyze the legal consequences of summons and examination without the approval of the Honorary Council for notaries. This study used a normative legal research method, which means scientific research to find the truth based on scientific logic that is studied from or its normative. From the results of this study is known that the Notary Honorary Council (MKN) and the Notary Supervisory Council (MPN) have carried out their existence optimally, namely by providing legal protection against criminalization of notaries, in connection with the examination of of notaries by investigators (MKN) and in terms of guidance and protection from public reports (MPN) regarding the implementation of the Notary's position. furthermore, for the summons of notaries carried out without the approval of the Notary Honorary Council, it is considered invalid or has no legal force, as long as the notary concerned refuse to be examined, but if the notary concerned is willing to provide information voluntarily without the approval of the Notary Honorary Council, then his statement is valid with the risk of no protection from the Notary Honorary Council.
